Volcanic activity has been one of the main creators of structures & shapes in nature. A group of nine islands created from volcanic activity are the Azores – located in the Atlantic Ocean pretty much in the middle between Europe and North America.
Flores is the most western island and as all the other islands its climat benefits from the Gulf Stream passing by. One week of rain per month – even in summer – provides a lot of green and many waterfalls. Here I’m sharing a picture of the Cascata da Ribeira do Ferreiro with its beautiful little lake. I used my Canon RF 14-35mm F4 L IS USM lens at 15mm to get the extra dynamic in the clouds (vs. going for a panoramic shot). As there was not much water supplying the waterfalls this time, 5 seconds of exposure helped to beef it up a bit.
Below two more waterfalls from São Jorge.
