On the occasion of today’s Swiss National Holiday I once again like to post a shot from a special place in Switzerland. This time I chose the Triftglacier with its Triftlake.
Like all the glaciers in the Alps also this one is melting away rapidly. At the turn of the millennium the ice still covered most of what is now the lake! So while the Triftglacier is a victim of the climate change there are now plans to potentially build a dam to supply a hydroelectric power plant and to support the Swiss climate goals. So in any case this landscape will continue to change, hence it is important to capture it now and to enjoy the beauty of nature.
