This winter a unique opportunity popped up: A dive into the Morteratsch Glacier! This glacier is located in the eastern part of the Swiss Alps and the region of the Bernina mountain range.
After a roughly two hours hike into the valley and some ascent towards the upper side of the moraine the little entrance appears. A few steps down, a cathedral in green opens up. Quite spooky is that one can hear the water flowing underneath the icy ground of the cave which is also filled with rocks the glacier was carrying along.

Like most glaciers in the Alps also the Morteratsch Glacier is melting away rapidly. So the beauty of this cave may not last long.
