The “Rocky Algarve” or Portugals colorful coast

The “Rocky Algarve,” Portugal’s southern coastline, is a dramatic landscape sculpted by time, wind, and sea. The cliffs of yellow limestone and red sandstone are in constant transformation, where nature redefines the land with every tide. In my two previous posts I focused on the caves and arches. Today I’m focusing on bays and beaches, featuring a few coastal highlights from Lagos, Portimao and Albufeira. The above picture shows the coastline at Praia do Camilo, close to Lagos.

In my previous post I had the above formation included with the view from the sea. Check it out.

If you are interested in more locations of great sandstone and limestone check out my post about the Eilat mountains in Israel.
